A new iMac Pro and an iMac update

Apple is taking advantage of WWDC 2017 to upgrade its iMac lineup with new Intel processors and new AMD graphics cards, but also, and most importantly, to unveil its new iMac Pro, scheduled for release in December 2017.

An iMac for professionals

Apple, therefore, unveiled the iMac Pro: a 27-inch sidereal gray iMac boosted with hormones to meet the needs of professionals. This iMac still features a 27-inch 5K display with a resolution of 120 x 280 px and covering the DCI-P3 color space, but the internal architecture has been completely redesigned to ensure proper cooling of the components.

Amazing specs under the hood!

Apple has chosen an Intel Xeon processor from 8 to 18 cores depending on the configuration, up to 128 GB RAM (DDR4-2666 MHz ECC) and an SSD capable of up to 4 TB of storage. This model will not carry a hard drive.

The iMac Pro will feature the latest AMD Vega graphics cards that are expected to deliver first-class performance. There are also two Thunderbolt 3 ports (also USB-C) and a 10-Gigabit Ethernet port, the first on a Mac.

All iMacs have been upgraded and now include two Thunderbolt 3 ports and two USB-C ports, as this connector is versatile and connects both types of peripherals. For the rest, the configurations have slightly risen.

All models feature Intel Kaby Lake processors (7th generation Core). The 21-inch iMac entry-level keeps a full-screen calibrated sRGB while the top models opt for a 4K display displaying 4,096 x 2,160 px and covering the DCI-P3 color space. The 4K models use AMD Radeon Pro 500 graphics cards (555 with 2 GB of video memory for the entry level and 560 with 4 GB of video memory for the high-end model).

All models are limited to 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

amazing specs under the hoodThe high-end model also benefits from a small SSD to speed up the system. Recall that the 2.5-inch hard drive on these models greatly plumbs performance and that it is better to choose a model Fusion Drive or SSD.

Apple also understands the message since all 27-inch models are now equipped with a Fusion Drive (the combination of an SSD and a hard drive). They also ship the latest Intel Core 7th generation Quad-Core processors from 3.4GHz to 3.8GHz and 8GB of DDR4-2666.

Both Thunderbolt 3 ports – also USB-C – are also part of the game. At the graphics card level, the AMD Radeon Pro 570, 575 and 580 are used here with respectively 4 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB dedicated video memory. The 27-inch screen did not change; It still displays a 5K resolution of 5,120 x 2,880 px and covers the DCI-P3 color space. Visit Le site spĂ©cialisĂ© Apple et Macintosh !
